New for Summer 2023, Scalliwag Toys is excited to present our Camp Scalliwag Day Camps!
Camps take place in-store as well as in a few outdoor spaces within close walking distance of Scalliwag Toys. Below is some info for parents about the themes and dates, as well as a bit more info about what kids will be doing for each week. Each week will be capped to 12 campers total, ages 8-14 - this allows us to provide a high degree of care and attention to each camper, and a personalized experience. Additionally, Stuart and Stacey, the owners of Scalliwags, are both Standard First Aid and CPR/AED C Certified. Camps run Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 4:30pm, late pickup at 5pm is available with a small additional cost.
The cost per camper per week is $250 + tax, with a requirement of a $100 non-refundable deposit upon initial registration to reserve your campers' spot. The remaining balance will be required by the end of the first day of the week your child is attending. Campers must bring a lunch, refillable water bottle, and snacks each day unless otherwise noted, as well as any sunscreen or weather-suitable clothing. Further details will be provided during and after registration based on the activities of the week.
As a note, if campers sign up for multiple iterations of the same theme (ex. two STEAM weeks) we will provide fresh activities (or repeat favourites) accordingly to make sure they still get the best summer camp experience that Camp Scalliwag can provide :)

STEAM CAMP
Campers will hone their natural curiosity and skills as scientists for the week! Each day will include experiments, crafts, and activities that relate to different types of science, with some art elements included as well to encourage creativity and imagination (it's hard to do science without them!). Topics covered will include simple machines, principles of flight, paleontology, archaeology, meteorology, physics of movement, biodiversity and ecology, botany, and more! Campers will use the powers of observation and critical thinking combined with the scientific method to have fun while learning in a hands-on supportive environment.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS CAMP
Campers will test their mettle in multiple tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) settings, with no prior experience with this style of gaming required. Each day will include chances to learn the mechanisms of TTRPGs, including character creation, worldbuilding, combat, theatre of the mind, miniature design, and even a chance to craft costume elements to wear as they play. We'll take them on imaginary journeys to far away lands, escape a zoo as a team, and maybe even encounter some dragons. TTRPGs are a great chance for campers to learn or work on valuable skills as they play, including problem solving, teamwork, conflict resolution, mapmaking, interpersonal skills, and even a bit of math for good measure.
