IN-STORE PLAY POLICIES & BOOKING DETAILS

ALL in-store players must adhere to the rules and codes of conduct that are connected to the games they are playing, as well as our store's code of conduct. For more information on what these entail, please read your game's rules and regulations carefully, expect the basic requirements of safety, good sportsmanship, play space stewardship/cleanliness, and fairness. Never forget that the ultimate goal is to ensure everybody has fun!

Unless otherwise noted, children attending in-store gaming events (age 12 and under) as well as teens and adults with additional or complex support needs MUST be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. Please contact us for more information if you are unsure.

WARHAMMER & OTHER TABLETOP WARGAMING

  • We will ensure that two tables will be available in-store for tabletop wargaming play during regular store hours.

  • When arranging a booking, you will be required to have an opponent confirmed and provide their name to us in order to have a table reserved for you. This will ensure that everyone has fair access to a table at convenient times.

  • Bookings should be made at least a day in advance - requests made outside of store hours, especially late at night, are not guaranteed, so please do not leave bookings to the last minute.

  • Unless otherwise noted or requested, sessions for Warhammer will be 4 hours long. If you require more or less time (ex. you are doing a Kill Team match), please let us know so we can maintain an accurate calendar that is open to other folks who may want to play as well.

  • Players are asked to clean their play space after they are finished, and return all terrain components and boards to their storage location in the store, and return chairs and tables in the play space to their original location. Any food or beverage detritus should be cleaned up as well.

  • If you require an additional table during play to hold extra army components etc, please ask us for the folding tables we have for this purpose, unless there are no other events scheduled in the store. This will help us to ensure the permanent tables are free for gameplay.

MAGIC THE GATHERING & POKEMON TRADING CARD GAMES (TCG)

  • Please watch our Facebook Events and Event Calendar for pre-scheduled TCG events. We have regular weekly sessions scheduled on Friday nights from 5pm to 9pm for Commander Format MTG and open play Pokémon, but these are subject to change according to other events that may happen in the store.

  • All players looking to participate in organized play should try to arrive close to the start time of the event. We cannot promise that all scheduled events will fire, so showing up on time will help to make sure an event will take place.

  • Given the close quarters of the play space, personal hygiene and cleanliness is very important, especially during the hot summer months. All players are expected to be fully clothed and reasonably clean while playing in-store.

  • To streamline registration and organized play in general, we highly recommend Magic players who have smart phones to download the MtG Companion App, as it allows you to join sanctioned events using your Wizards Organized Play account. For Pokémon, if you have not registered for our Scalliwag Pokémon League, we ask that you bring your Play Pokémon Player ID# with you in order to sign up. For both games, we submit our player counts for each event, and this determines the amount of promotional materials that are sent from Wizards of the Coast and the Pokémon Company - if you like free stuff, help us make it happen!

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES (INCLUDING DUNGEONS & DRAGONS)

  • Wednesday Nights are for Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs)! We generally have a handful of tables running, with different DM/GMs (Dungeon Masters/Game Masters) offering different play experiences and styles. We are always looking for new DMs to join our roster, even if you can only commit to leading a table for a specific chunk of time - get in touch with us to learn more about the perks and requirements!

  • Players of all experience levels are invited to join. We endeavour to make TTRPGs an inclusive, welcoming experience for everyone, and ask that every DM provides safety tools for players (ex. Lines and Veils, X-Cards) as requested.

  • Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition is the most popular gaming format in our store, but we sell and offer the chance to try many other systems and gaming worlds. If you're interested in trying something new, ask us - we might want to play that system too but are waiting for enough interested players to run a game!

  • Players should come as prepared as possible, with the necessary dice, character sheets, paper or notebooks, writing utensils, etc. in order to feel ready for their respective game. However, if something is forgotten or if you are new and trying something out and aren't sure what you need, we are happy to loan / provide gaming accessories if we have them available.

OPEN GAMING / BOARD GAMES

  • Thursday night is open gaming! Players are invited to play any of our in-store library of board games, or let us know in advance if you're looking to try out a certain title - if we have it in our personal home library, we'd be happy to share it with you and/or teach how to play!

  • Players may also bring a board game of their own to play in-store, or play a game they have purchased from the store.

  • If you would like to play a board game and grab a coffee or snack on the shared patio space hosted out front by our lovely neighbours during the warm months / patio season, the French bistro L'Auberge de France Wednesday to Saturday, you are welcome to borrow one of our easy-to-play games by signing it out for free with us. Ask us in-store for details!

  • Those who would like to play a board game in-store at any other time, or would like a tutorial on how to play a board game, please contact us to book a space, even outside of Open Gaming Night. If you are looking for additional players, we may be able to accommodate depending on the player count required and how the game works.
