Scalliwag Toys opened in 1985, the brainchild of Richard and Karin Belanger. The store was first located in an 800-square-foot space at 215 Front Street, Belleville, but after only a few short years it was bursting at the seams with the best in children's toys, games, and puzzles. It then moved across the street into larger premises, where it stayed for another five years. At this point, Richard and Karin had the opportunity to buy one of downtown Belleville's historic buildings, located at 302 Front Street, and Scalliwag Toys came at last to its real home, where it has been ever since.
Ever since the store opened, we have worked to offer a unique and thoughtful mix of toys, crafts, and games. Scalliwag is a true specialty toy store, featuring the best in whimsical, educational, and just plain fun playthings for children of all ages.
